Recently, Mobile Pathways faced a coordinated and sophisticated cyberattack. Thanks to our solid tech defenses and strategic safeguards, we withstood the attack without compromising any data. However, as we began sharing our experience with other immigration organizations, a concerning trend became clear—we are not alone.
Several immigration nonprofits and advocacy groups have also been targeted by similar attacks, yet many lack the resources to prevent breaches. This issue extends beyond one organization or incident. It affects an entire community dedicated to protecting immigrants and asylum seekers. The need for robust cybersecurity and data protection has never been more critical.

That’s why we’re proud to provide a curated cybersecurity, legal, and data protection resources tailored specifically to the immigration nonprofit community.
These tools are designed to help immigration professionals, legal advisors, and data security experts safeguard sensitive information and stay prepared in an evolving digital landscape.
To address this growing threat, we partnered with Ali Boyd of Border Servant Corp to co-host a webinar discussing strategies for strengthening cyber defenses and sharing practical resources. As a human rights attorney, Ali drew upon on her experience from the U.S.-Mexico border, Washington, D.C., and The Hague, Netherlands to present digital safeguards, tool, and strategies immigration nonprofits can use to bolster their defenses.
What we expected to be a modest gathering of about 30 organizations became something much bigger— over 150 organizations signed up, showcasing the urgency of this issue.
The flood of questions we received further highlighted the overwhelming need for support in this space.
Immigration nonprofits play a vital role in creating a safer, more equitable world for vulnerable individuals. It’s essential that these organizations are equipped to make their online spaces as secure as their missions are noble.
